Welcome Alicia Michaels – Author of The Bionics Series

Do you have a writing pattern (place, time, etc.) that you follow each day or does the writing decide what type of day it will be?
I wish I lived the ideal ‘writer’s’ life. I wish I could tell you that every day I get to write in a beautiful room full of books, at a large, ornate desk and comfy chair, with a steaming cup of coffee or tea by my side. In my ideal writing room, in this world of peace and quiet that does not exist, there is a large, bay window with window seat overlooking a picturesque view. The words flow from my fingertips like water, and my days go by in a relaxed, serene setting as I churn out brilliance.
The reality couldn’t be further from that. In the real world, three children wreak havoc in my house and have two rambunctious dogs as their accomplices. My view is of a messy living room littered with toys, bottles, sippy cups, and crushed up Goldfish crackers. The coffee at my side is probably cold, because I only got a few sips of it before I had to go rushing off to fix some crisis or another. Some days I can only write one paragraph at a time, and other days I can sneak in writing marathons during naptime.
Instead of being frustrated over the chaos that rules my life, I try to revel in it. Because, when I do, it makes me grateful for every stolen moment and for every written word. I forces me to make the most of the time spent in front of my laptop and in the company of my characters. In these times, I have learned to make every single second, every letter punched on the keyboard, count.

Title:  Titanium
Series:  The Bionics Series, Book 2
Author:  Alicia Michaels
Published:  September 13th, 2013 by Crimson Tree Publishing
Word Count:  30,000
Genre:  YA Mature Dystopian Romance
Content Warning:  Coarse language and mild sexual innuendo
Recommended Age:  16+
Synopsis: We stand on the brink of a double rescue mission, a plan so foolhardy that even our bravest men are quaking inside with fear. Storm the capitol, free the prisoners, don’t get killed. It seems like a suicide mission, but not a single one of us has anything to lose.
In my past life, I was a scoundrel; a drug peddling street thug who cared nothing for anyone because I had no one to care for me. The nuclear blasts of 4006 reminded me of the value of life, and a girl with the saddest eyes I’ve ever gazed into gave me someone to care for. Now, as we embark on our most dangerous enterprise, I can only hope that we make it out alive and that those we have lost can be recovered.
Foolishness … fear … hope … These are the elements that threw our revolution into motion. As the momentum of the Resistance continues to build, we can only pray that hope continues grow larger than our fear.
About the Author:
Ever since she first read books like Chronicles of Narnia or Goosebumps, Alicia has been a lover of mind-bending fiction. Wherever imagination takes her, she is more than happy to call that place her home. The mother of two and wife to an Army sergeant loves chocolate, coffee, and of course good books. When not writing, you can usually find her with her nose in a book, shopping for shoes and fabulous jewelry, or spending time with her loving family.

Welcome Celia Bonaduce – Author of A Comedy of Erin

Title:  A Comedy of Erinn
Author:   Celia Bonaduce
Published:  September 19th, 2013 by Kensington Publishing
Word Count:  approx. 75,000
Genre:  Contemporary Romance
Content Warning:  None
Synopsis:
Erinn Wolf needs to reinvent herself. A once celebrated playwright turned photographer, she’s almost broke, a little lonely, and tired of her sister’s constant worry. When a job on a reality TV show falls into her lap, she’s thrilled to be making a paycheck–and when a hot Italian actor named Massimo rents her guesthouse, she’s certain her life is getting a romantic subplot. But with the director, brash, gorgeous young Jude, dogging her every step, she can’t help but look at herself through his lens–and wonder if she’s been reading the wrong script all along…
What do you believe sets your book apart from others in the same genre?
The Venice Beach Romance Series was actually not conceived as “romance novels” – although I am honored and proud to be accepted into the club!  I consider myself a humorist first and foremost and if I were going to stick a label on my books, I would call them “romantic comedies.”
The first of the “Venice Beach” books, The Merchant of Venice Beach is the story of woman named Suzanna as she is approaching her 33rd birthday in the Los Angeles area.  She has been living and working with her two best friends – both of whom are guys – and she sort of “wakes up” one morning a little restless.  I feel as if that is a classic L.A. area tale.  It’s sort of like “The weather never changes and neither do I”  Then, one day, BAM!  You realize you are getting older and have ZERO to show for it. Suzanna picks a totally ridiculous way to dip her toe into adulthood – she starts chasing after an emotionally unavailable dance instructor – but that’s where the fun comes in.
In Book Two of the series, A Comedy of Erinn, we follow Suzanna’s older sister, Erinn.  Where Suzanna was living life in arrested development, Erinn was old before her time.  Her story is the polar opposite of her sister’s.  Erinn needs to loosen up and realize that life is for the living.   As hard as she tries to stay bottled up and protect herself from the world around her, two men enter her life at the same time – both determined to get behind that wall she’s built.  Of all my characters, Erinn is probably  most like me, so exploring where she would go given the parameters I set for her was very enlightening.

Book Three, Much Ado About Mother follows not only Erinn and Suzanna, but their mother Virginia.  I’m in the middle of writing this one right now, but I am exploring what I consider archetypal women’s themes in a modern world.  Love is part of it, but what men these women end up with is only a part of what I’m looking into.  I find all the adventures women experience worth exploring.  My characters are all flawed people and I love them enough to give them a full life…not just a love life.

Author Bio: (Optional Extra)
Author L.U. Ann recently moved to Colorado from the Eastern Shore of Maryland with her husband and two children. Life in Colorado is so much different. In Maryland, you would find her in the garden tending to her vegetables and flowers, sea glass and shark tooth hunting once a week, and enjoying the kids swimming in the backyard. Her life took a drastic change when her family moved to their own “Little House on the Prairie” at an elevation of over 6,000 feet above sea level, and a semi-arid climate that makes it hard to grow anything. While barely anything can grow where she resides now, the wildlife makes up for it. Mountain Lions, and coyotes, and rattlesnakes, oh my!
She tries to spend a little time each day writing, but domestic chores around the house usually take precedence. She would much rather hide them from her husband. She tends to her loving four-legged children who at times become much too demanding when she locks herself in the office. This often results in MORE domestic work, and she finds herself cleaning up after their deviant behavior.
At night, you’ll find her begging the kids to go to bed so that she can catch up on the latest book before her sister can. Yes, she is an avid reader who escapes her chaotic but wonderful home to the feisty depths of romance land in search of her newest book boyfriend. Shh, don’t tell her husband!
She is an artist by the grace of God. She worked as a set designer for six years, helping establish a local children’s theatre where she was the scenery artist, set, and prop designer. Before that, you would find her covered in paint, so engrossed in painting a mural that time didn’t exist. Graphic design is her guilty pleasure.

Welcome Laina Turner – Author of The Presley Thurman Mysteries

The Presley Thurman Mysteries
by Laina Turner
About The Author:

Who am I? It kind of depends on the day. I am a human compendium of unrelated things. I used to think I was just weird, had shiny ball syndrome and couldn’t focus, scattered, you name it. Then I decided it was OK to be all over the place as long as each avenue I wanted to explore had meaning andpurposeor was fun. So I embrace the fact I am a college professor, a writer of fiction and non-fiction, promoter of other authors, human resource professional, business consultant, mom, and all aroundinteresting person (according to my closest friends).
When I’m not working toward my goals I like, ok fine, LOVE wine, coffee, shopping, and books. I enjoy my kids, they are awesome. I hate the cold but yet live in the mid-west. Vegas is one of my favorite spots as I love to people watch and if I ever get married again it will definitely be in a drive through chapel by a fake Elvis.
