Welcome Megan Slayer – Author of Hot Laps

I am thrilled to turn my blog over to Megan Slayer for two reasons – I think Megan Slayer is the most awesome name ever! And I love the title of the first book in her Track Domination series Hot Laps! Does it get any better than that? Does it? If it does, please message me. OH – and one more thing – I will be borrowing those cabana boys! Turning it over to Megan…
Racing hearts and race trucks…things happen fast on track.
Adam Lowry is known in the racing community as the best crew chief. He doesn’t pull punches or put up with diva antics from drivers no matter what. But there is one man he never quite got over. Will Camden, his former lover and now the latest addition of the Flash Racing team.
All Will Camden needed was a second chance to prove he’s got what it takes to race with the big dogs in the truck series. When he’s asked to fill in for another driver at Flash, he’s determined to make the best of the situation. Knowing his ex is his crew chief is bonus points.
Can they make the jump from being a solid team on the track to solid in bed or will they crash and burn before the end of the race?
1. Did you always want to be an author? If not, what else would you have done?
I would’ve done what I went to school for— to be an art teacher. I love art, especially art history and actually enjoyed teaching. I’d have done that longer, but I didn’t have the temperament to deal with high school aged students. They know everything, you know nothing and if they aren’t open to learning, you might as well cash it in.
 2. Was your road to publication a delightful stroll in the park or the voyage of the damned?
I wouldn’t say it was the road to the damned, but 43 rejection letters taught me that crit partners are invaluable and never, ever send in your first draft. Yeah, I did that with the first ever book I queried. Not smart.
 3. Who is your favourite author and why?
KA Mitchell. I can totally get immersed in her work for hours and when I’m done reading, I feel like I’ve spent time with friends.

4. Do you have only one WIP, or do you bounce around between projects?

I bounce. My attention span is so short sometimes that I have to bounce. If one isn’t working, I go to another one. Then when that one gets stuck, I go to the first one…or the third one and keep going. Notebooks are sooo much help in keeping things straight.
5. Do you write under a nom de plume?
Yes! Wendi Zwaduk. Megan Slayer is my pen name, but I don’t exactly hide that fact

6. Are you an island unto yourself in your writing, or does the input of critique partners push you along?

I need my crit partners to help me. There have been so many times when I’ve thought, oh this is fine as is, only to find out, it wasn’t polished enough. I’ve tried being an island and it doesn’t work for me. Too many mistakes and goofed up opportunities made me much wiser.
7. What music are you listening to lately?
I’ve been listening to local to me bands. Sykosis and Ventana. Both are metal/thrash music, but really great if you’re trying to get into a writing headspace for BDSM.
8. How did you decided to enter the world of writing?
I had a friend who wrote books and I read hers. I thought, this is interesting, but what if I ran this way with the story? Then I read a racing themed romance and didn’t like the ending or the lack of racing in the story. I wanted that one to end differently, too. So, I picked up the pen and began writing.

9. Who is, hands down, the sexiest actor of all time?

Chris Evans. I can watch the Avengers and Captain America over and over.
10. What does your family think of your writing?
My family loves what I do. There are dedications to my DH in every one of my books. He gives me time to write and doesn’t mind me carrying a notebook with me everywhere. Grin. I’m a lucky girl.
When she’s not writing the stories in her head, Megan Slayer can be found luxuriating in her hot tub with her two vampire Cabana boys, Luke and Jeremy. She has the tendency to run a tad too far with her muse, so she has to hide in the head of her alter ego, but the boys don’t seem to mind.
When she’s not obsessing over her whip collection, she can be found picking up her kidlet from school. She enjoys writing in all genres, but writing about men in love suits her fancy best. The cabana boys are willing to serve, unless she needs them. She always need them. So be nice to Javier or he will bite–on command.
She also masquerades under the name Wendi Zwaduk and is published through Changeling Press, Decadent Publishing , Liquid Silver Books, MLR Press, Resplendence Publishing, and Total-E-Bound Publishing.
